The problem it solves
On a forging floor, material changes shape, weight and location at every step, and offcuts, end-pieces and burning loss disappear along the way. Tracked by hand, that leaves you with no single source of truth, losses nobody can quantify, and reports that take hours to rebuild. Ongoing Forge replaces the spreadsheets with one system that mirrors how the floor actually runs.
How it works — the whole floor in one system
- One flow, in the right order. Inward receipt, cutting, forging, heat treatment, machining, stock transfers and dispatch are all handled in one place, in the sequence the material actually moves.
- Live stock at every stage. Balances are tracked per item, location and process, so the current quantity in cutting, forging, heat treatment or machining is always visible.
- A Draft → Post safeguard. Transactions are prepared as drafts and only change stock when they're posted — a half-finished entry can never quietly corrupt your numbers.
- Stage calculations built in. Each process computes what happens to the metal: cut-loss and end-pieces at cutting; rejected pieces, waste and burning loss at forging and heat treatment; and yield through machining — with mass-balance checks so the parts add up to the whole.
- Transfers and dispatch. Move material between locations and process buckets, and dispatch checks availability before stock leaves the floor.
